Krinkels has noted that the identities of the characters are up for interpretation, including gender.In the description for Madness Combat 9.5, Hank is referred to with both he/him and they/them pronouns.

Krinkels has hinted that no character in the Madness Combat series has a birth gender. Hank has limited knowledge in real estate. He has been shown to use any means necessary to kill their enemies.
